Original NSB collaboration poster with the slogan "With Mussert for New Netherland in New Europe", year of issue unknown, display date: March 1-April 13.
The poster emphasizes the three core values of Power, Work, and Security, and presents Mussert's movement as the embodiment of a prosperous and strong Netherlands within Hitler's "New Order." The text addresses virtually all professional groups—from farmers, fishermen, and laborers to artists, civil servants, and merchants—establishing the NSB as a people's party representing the entire Netherlands.
The text's frame is striking: not a simple decoration, but a large wreath symbolically depicting various professions. We see, among others, farmers, welders, laborers, musicians, and artists, visually emphasizing that every class and profession has a place within Mussert's "New Netherland." This frame gave the propaganda a compelling and unifying character: according to the NSB, every profession, from manual laborer to intellectual, contributed to the national future.
A historically charged poster that illustrates the breadth and complexity of NSB propaganda, and shows how the movement packaged its message in symbolism that was intended to appeal to society as a whole.
Condition:
The poster is in good condition considering its age. The image plane is well-preserved, and the colors are vibrant. Some minor signs of wear and tear are visible, such as horizontal and vertical fold lines, small tears along the edges, and slight discoloration due to age. These imperfections are typical of original, wartime posters used in street scenes and do not detract from the impressive presentation of this copy.
